Do you know anyone who has had an experience with bed bugs? Have you had an experience with bed bugs? For those of you have had and experience with bed bugs or know someone who has, you know it can change your life forever and it can be really hard to get rid of.
Well I have never had that experience and really hope I don’t, but to make sure I agreed to a review a product from BugZip. They sent me a bed bug encasement in various sizes and it can be used when you travel or even in your home if you have a problem with bed bugs. I have to say I was very impressed with the quality of the products and will use it when I go on vacation. The one thing about this product is that if you use it on vacation it is recommended that you not use it again and leave the encasement in the hotel when you are about to check out. Failure to do so can cause you to bring these bugs home if they are present in the hotel room.
Facts about bed bugs- Bed bugs are nocturnal; they sleep all day and only come out after everyone is asleep. As such, they are extremely difficult to see and catch. They generally stay very close to a bedroom unless they accidentally hitch a ride on someone’s clothes, luggage, bag or purse, which they are known to do frequently.
At the moment there are no pesticides making any headway at preventing the rapid spread of bed bugs between hotels, homes, college dorms, hospitals, military barracks, or low-income housing. Anywhere that people sleep is very susceptible to a bed bug infestation especially places with a high turnover of people moving in and out.
There is a common misconception that bed bugs are only found at “dirty” or low-budget hotels. This is not true. Bed bugs don’t like dirt; they like warm bodies, so they hitch a ride on someone’s bag and migrate to the bedroom. Hotels are well aware that no one wants to stay at a hotel with bed bugs.
Most hotels are actively looking for signs of bed bugs and regularly treating suspect rooms. The problem is that as soon as one room has been cleaned, someone brings bed bugs back into it. It’s a perpetual cycle of bed bugs traveling to and from bedroom to bedroom. Every time a bedroom is cleaned, there are still a few that have escaped in someone’s bags or were hiding inside the wall. A few bed bugs leftover will turn into a few thousand again in about three months.
I read this on the BugZip website and this is a very scary thing. It makes you think twice about staying in a hotel. Who wants to be bitten all night while you sleep? I know I don’t and I don’t especially want to bring that home with my 4 kids at home. Make sure before you go on vacation that you check out these products and buy some.
