No insurance required

Almost every state has a law that requires drivers to have automobile insurance and of course it must be current as well. I heard a few rumors flying around that a few states will remove this law and that it would be optional to have auto insurance. It was said that doing this would help people save money, since many people don’t have a job they can’t afford to pay the premiums. I am not sure if this is a good idea. I mean what happens if you get into an accident with an uninsured motorist? Are you stuck with the bill? I mean how much is that worth, it would be easier for these states to simply put a cap on how much an insurance company can charge you and then these people can easily get a new auto insurance quote to find a much cheaper rate. Right now when you get in a car you risk the fact that there are people driving without insurance already against the law, so do we need to add even more of these people on the road? What do you think? Do you agree with this?
